Crime Fiction

Even the most straight laced crime fiction can have themes that touch ever so lightly on the paranormal but have legitimate scientific basis for its inclusion.  Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta series has a serial killer Jean Baptiste Chardonne who is also known as the Wolfman.  Chardonne suffers from hypertrichosis, a disease in which an abnormal amount of hair grows on the body.

On television the use of a ghost and dream revelations were used in the early seasons of Veronica Mars.  The driving force within the first season was to discover who killed her best friend, Lilly Kane.  Lilly would appear as a ghost and in hallucinations for the main character, Veronica and Lilly’s brother Duncan.  The ghost would ultimately save Veronica’s life during season 2 when her classmates would be killed in a bus explosion.
